New Videos: How to Apply Polyolefin Heat Shrink Tubing & New Vertical Laminator

If you were at MD&M West, you might have caught the debut of two new videos coming to you from our Applications Lab!

How to Apply Polyolefin Heat Shrink Tubing

This (35-second) video gives you a quick tutorial on how to apply Polyolefin Heat Shrink Tubing. In this example, we shrink tubing onto a stainless steel mandrel, but you can use many other materials as a substrate. The video shows quick, smooth lamination along the length of the mandrel.

Thin, flexible Polyolefin Heat Shrink Tubing features high compressive strength, making it ideal for applications like electrical insulation and strain relief, potentially eliminating the need for adhesive.

Our New Vertical Laminator

This (one-minute) video demonstrates our Application Lab’s new vertical laminator, which applies heat shrink tubing onto a substrate with a preset speed, heat, and length. In this video, we shrink 2:1 ratio Pebax® Heat Shrink Tubing onto a stainless steel mandrel. This new equipment helps us to provide customers who use a vertical laminator in their production process with a more accurate, repeatable “recipe” for applying heat shrink tubing with the right time and temperature.

In addition, the vertical laminator is useful for confirming that the tubing is bonding correctly to the substrate. It also allows us to verify that the tubing is the correct color and opacity after shrinking.

Our Applications Lab is here to help. If you’re running into any heat shrink tubing challenges, contact us. Our technical team can test your substrate, advise you on the right tubing, and help you to develop the optimal application process for your project.
